MICHAEL SCHENKER FLYING V

During the transition of the Northern Prairie Music store into the Hamer company, British bands like UFO, Wishbone Ash, Jethro Tull and Bad Company frequented the workshop. Friedships and business relationships were formed that would help catapult Hamer into the international spotlight.

Michael Schenker was one such customer. He and UFO vocalist Phil Moog were regulars when UFO came to Chicago. (Jol Dantzig and the Hamer guys knew how to throw a party too).

Michael smashed this guitar regularly, and Hamer was not only responsible for the repairs, but the source of the now famous black/white paint scheme.

In the first version, the guitar was split evenly down the center—half black and half white including the pickguard. Michael then had the idea to reverse the pickguard to create an offset design. The guitar was returned to Hamer and the pickguard was repainted in reverse.

There were also several Hamer-constructed B/W Vs made for Michael too, including one with a Floyd Rose.
