Andy Summers and The Police

Andy Summers collaborated with Jol Dantzig on several Hamer designs including the Phantom and the original Prototype model. In addition, Summers ordered many custom instruments including an electric mandocello, and a twenty-string harp guitar.

Summers was a regular visitor at the Hamer shop in Arlington Heights, and his enthusiasm for Hamer spread to his bandbates who all ordered instruments. Even Stewart Copeland and many of the band's crew became Hamer guitar owners.
