A rare look at the archival photos from the Hamer shop, backstage and the personal histories of the people
involved in this great company.
PETE FARNDON of The Pretenders

As an original and founding member of the Pretenders, Pete was responsible for the discovery of James Honeyman Scott. Pete's driving bass lines were the solid foundation on which many Pretenders hits were built.

Farndon's first Hamer bass was a short scale double-cutaway model similar to what was later called the B-04S. It was the exact shape of the Quad basses, and the Sunburst guitars that Honeyman Scott played.

Electronics were trademark Hamer simplicity: DiMarzio X2N bass pickup and single volume and tone controls. The headstock is a shortened version of the "Split V" which was first used on Standard 12 string guitars. Note the three-support "Ripper" bridge, with through the body low "E" string. Color: '50s Pink!

Later, Farndon switched to the Cruisebass model, first with a red one, then one with a Japanese "Rising Sun" battle flag graphic.
